Netarx Awarded Cisco IP Communications Project at Macomb Community College
BINGHAM FARMS, MI (September 8, 2004) – Bingham Farms-based Netarx Inc. announced today that it has been awarded the implementation of a converged Cisco IP voice and data network at Macomb Community College (MCC). The college plans to replace its 8 year old Marconi ATM data network and 15 year old Nortel PBX with a state-of-the-art converged Cisco IP communications network. The aging data and separate telecommunications infrastructure has created a ‘perfect storm’ for the college which is challenged with improving student enrollment while budgets continue to shrink. This converged voice and data network improves communication capabilities with advanced features that are sure to improve customer service and responsiveness to current and future students. Building upon its recently installed fiber optic backbone, this system reduces maintenance fees, administration costs and telecommunication circuit charges for the college. The college plans to deploy nearly 2,000 Cisco IP phones by the end of the year as well as incorporate a comprehensive contact center, security and communications disaster recovery strategy.
